Center Region, Cameroon

I am Christy, a 20-year-old from the Center Region of Cameroon, currently living in Yaoundé with my mother, brothers, and sisters. In late 2022, I discovered the Lens on Life project through a photography training program organized by the Bright Association. Driven by a desire to learn more about photography and explore new opportunities, I decided to embark on this creative journey. Today, I am a volunteer at the TIC Foundation and an active member of Open Dreams. Photography has grown into more than a hobby for me—it is a powerful tool for communication and storytelling.

Through my photography, I aim to showcase the efforts being made in Cameroon to prioritize education. My work highlights the importance of ensuring that every young citizen has access to at least primary and secondary education. By capturing images of places like a well-known bookstore that equips students with everything they need and Mandilaris, Yaoundé’s largest manufacturer and retailer of school uniforms, I hope to raise awareness and inspire action.

I want my photographs to serve as a call to action, encouraging others to join the movement toward making education accessible for all and instilling hope for a brighter future.
