Goma, DR Congo

In January 2018, we opened our first fully functioning media lab in the city of Goma, in cooperation with Camme. Powered entirely by renewable energy, the lab contains computer terminals, cameras, and technology for media production.  Internet allows students the ability to conduct course research online and use social channels to publish their work. In 2022, we added another floor to the media lab which houses a photography studio that contains state of the art equipment that students and alumni can use for ongoing projects. Students leaving the program have the ability to access paid field based internships through our partner Eastern Congo Initiative to help launch their career in photography.

"I wish to continue doing photography. As I learn more, I keep producing good work. I get paid now for photography. My uncle and I get paid for our photography business."

— Jidson, Student in Goma
