Katunga Kikova Merry
Goma, Democratic Republic of Congo

I come from a family of eight children, and I am the fifth. My father, Emmanuel Kikova, is a mechanical engineer, and my mother, Gisele Kalinda, is a seamstress. In 2024, I learned from my classmates that there was a photography training program called Lens on Life CAMME, aimed at supporting youth self-sufficiency. I saw this as a great opportunity to pursue my dream of becoming a professional photographer.

Photography inspires us in many ways, particularly in capturing information, because every story or event is a form of information. Among the 17 Sustainable Development Goals, I have chosen one that I believe I can support and contribute to. Decent Work and Economic Growth Work is essential for creating wealth and supporting the economy of a country, which is why we must fight against unemployment. The primary role of work is to generate economic wealth, which is shared between capital holders and the state. As workers, the main reason we work is to earn money and support our families.
