Through my photography, I aim to tell stories that challenge societal norms and highlight the evolving roles of women and girls. The 19th century marked the beginning of the demystification of women’s roles, and today, we continue to see women stepping into spaces traditionally dominated by men.
One story that inspires me is that of Yvette, a young girl who followed her passion for metalworking. After earning her BEPC, she chose to enter a technical field, drawn by her genuine love for working with metal. During her free time, Yvette takes refresher courses at a local metalworking shop in Yaoundé. Her commitment and skill have earned her recognition—her internship supervisor has even praised her as the best among her male classmates.
Through my images, I want to shine a light on women like Yvette, demonstrating the critical role women play in society and advocating for gender equality. Their stories inspire us to reimagine what’s possible and remind us that passion and determination know no boundaries.
